Visit of the Prime Minister of St. Kitts and Nevis to the W.E.B. Du Bois Memorial Centre

Accra, Ghana — Tuesday, March 17, 2026

The W.E.B. Du Bois Museum Foundation had the honour of hosting the Prime Minister of St. Kitts and Nevis, H. E. Terrance Michael Drew, and his wife, H. E. Diani Jimesha Prince-Drew, during an official visit to the Centre.

The visit commenced with a ceremonial welcome, including the presentation of traditional stoles on behalf of the Foundation, followed by a formal greeting led by the Head of Operations, Madam Grace Asiam.

The Prime Minister and his delegation proceeded to the tomb of W.E.B. Du Bois and Shirley Graham Du Bois, where they observed customary protocols before entering the historic bungalow.

During the visit to the tomb, H. E. Terrance Michael Drew expressed strong interest in the representation of African and Caribbean leaders within the space. He was particularly excited by the inclusion of figures from the Caribbean, noting the deep historical and cultural connections between Africa and the Caribbean.

This was followed by a guided tour of the Du Bois residence, where the delegation was introduced to key aspects of Dr. Du Bois’ life and work in Ghana.

The visit continued with a viewing of the exhibition “The Du Boises in Ghana,” which provided deeper insight into their final years and enduring Pan-African legacy.

At the conclusion of the exhibition, H. E. Terrance Michael Drew expressed support for the Foundation’s ongoing work and indicated a willingness to explore ways of contributing to its initiatives.

The visit ended with a presentation of commemorative souvenirs and closing courtesies.
