PROF. ALHASSAN S. ANAMZOYA
Prof. Alhassan S. Anamzoya

Dr. Alhassan Sulemana Anamzoya is a Senior Lecturer and the Head of the Department of Sociology at the University of Ghana. He holds a Ph.D. in Sociology from the University of Ghana, Legon, and has made significant contributions to knowledge in the areas of Sociology of Law and Political Sociology. He was a Postdoctoral Fellow of the American Council of Learned Societies and a Visiting Fellow at the University of Mainz, Germany.
Some of his notable publications include “Managing Chieftaincy and Ethnic Conflicts in Ghana” (2016): Co-authored with S. Tonah, and “Working Behind the Scenes: State Actors and Judicial Processes in the Houses of Chiefs in Ghana” (2008).
He is a regular contributor to several notable journals. Among others, The African Review: A Journal of African Politics, Development and International Affairs, Journal of Legal Pluralism and Unofficial Law, Contemporary Journal of African Studies, Journal of Development Studies, Ghana Journal of Geography, and Legon Journal of Sociology.
His research interests extend beyond publications, covering topics such as migration, legal pluralism, and chieftaincy. Dr. Anamzoya has also presented papers at various conferences and workshops, contributing valuable insights to sociological discussions.
